I had fun making these...combining pizza & Star Wars seemed like a no-brainer! I kept speaking Yoda - out loud, to myself (not weird)- " Yoda, on my pizza, your face is!" And lets not forget Lord Vader....gggoooooooo (said whispering, while inhaling), gggaaaaahhhhh (said whispering, while exhaling) - again, it's only weird if you let it be weird.
I whipped up a batch of pizza dough, blanched the peppers and broccoli, grated some cheese and obsessed over matching sliced mushrooms; I did use pre-sliced olives, as to preserve some of my sanity.
I began with Yoda, he seemed more challenging. It took 2 bell peppers, 1 head of broccoli, and 3-4 do-overs to replicate this Jedi.....aaaaand, a "few" glasses of wine.
Here is a the actual Yoda, taken a few months ago at the Star Wars Identity exhibit:
Isn't he cute!! As to keep with his honorable nature, Yoda held up during the baking process...what a good little Yoda pizza!!
Lord Vader? Eh. Not so much. What would you expect, though? The olives oozed and ran toward the Darkside. Much like a wild creature, you cannot tame Vader. Cannot. He just didn't hold up at all...although, it could be a representation of him without he helmet? No? How about an abstract interpretation? A Vader Van Gogh, if you will.
Here is THE Vader costume...I half expected him to raise his open-palmed hand out toward us, in a squeezing motion - administering The Force on us all!!!
Here is what I used to make both Yoda & Vader:
2 pounds pizza dough, one pound for each pizza
1 pound mozzarella cheese, grated - 8oz per pizza
2 cups pizza sauce - 1 cup per pizza
2 - 6oz cans sliced olives
2 green bell peppers, sliced and blanched
1 head of broccoli, cut into florets and blanched
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 bottle of Pinot Grigio, optional - yet recommended....gets the creative juices flowing.
May the Force be with you, on May the 4th!!
They all look fun to make and delicious to eat! Thanks for visiting and for your lovely comment...
