Did I skip Valentine's Day?

I have to be honest...Valentine's Day isn't a huge, epic event in our house.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-V-Day, but I do think there is an enormous amount of pressure to buy your loved ones quadruple priced flowers, chocolates, gifts, etc.  I do love it when S spontaneously comes home with flowers, or little nifty gift-thingies when he's  traveling...who wouldn't?  But on V-Day, I'd much rather stay in, have dinner, and retire to the couch to watch our favorite shows.....which is what we did this year, and most years.


Could I have baked for V-Day?  Absolutely; last week I made salted caramels & salted caramel brownies; the week before that I made winterberry shortcakes.  I was taking a break from sweets, it just so happened to coincide with V-Day...we still haven't recovered from the Christmas/New Years bake-a-thon.  I'm probably the only person who didn't write a dessert post for V-Day.  Honestly, I felt that the other 175 Billion (made up statistic) food bloggers said pretty much all there is to say on pink & red dipped Rice Krispie treat bars/pops.

So, after all that being said, S couldn't resist a trip to Fuss (a nut-free, peanut-free cupcake bakery); he wasn't taking a break from sweets, apparently.


So, did I have a cupcake?.....(cone of safety, please)......Yes.  Yes, I did.
