I'm still rocking those Cara Cara oranges |
Many versions add sugar, some 1 1/2 cups of sugar, I don't think you need any. I will say though, you need to find a frozen concentrated orange juice brand that is not bitter or sour. I used Minute Maid; I find it sweet enough without the bitterness or sourness of some other brands.
Frozen Concentrated OJ |
Frozen concentrated OJ, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and ice = creamsicle-like nirvana.
Make sure to crush the ice, you don't want chunks of ice |
As soon as S heard the blender, he perked up..."Whatcha makin?"

So thick the straw stands up on its own |
Then he saw me filling the Sundae cup and garnishing it with orange slices and a groovy green straw.

Can you see how yummy it is? |
S..."Is that mine?....Did you make that for me?"

Warning: consuming too fast will lead to ice cream headaches |
Yes. Yes I did.

Empty glass says it all |
It freezes well, like sherbet, if you have any leftovers.
DIY Orange Julius
1 10 oz can FCOJ (I used Minute Maid)
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
6-8 ice cubes, about 1 cup
Add FCOJ, milk and vanilla to blender, pulse several times, add ice cubes, process until ice is crushed and no ice pieces remain. Garnish with oranges and silly straws (optional).
Freeze any leftovers.
