A New Year

Although I am sad to see my 2012 Big Lebowski wall calendar go into the recycle bin, it's always exciting to start a fresh one.  Only this year it's a 365 page desk calendar, Doodle Of The Day.  It's the small things in life that amuse me...obviously.

It will probably be mid-March before I get use to writing 2013 on my checks, and by that time I will have perfected the art of changing the 2 into a 3.

What I did do for New Years was hang a Tibetan Prayer Flag.  I purchased it at a Fair Trade store last year, it got packed for our move and I forgot about it.  Prayer flags are used to promote peace, strength, happiness and wisdom.  A prayer is written on each individual flag, each flag's color symbolizing the five elements; blue for sky/space, white for air/wind, red for fire, green for water, yellow for earth.  Balancing these, it is believed, will produce health and happiness.  As the flags flap in the wind, the blessings are carried out into the universe to all beings, spreading good will and compassion into the universe for all......basically, it sends out good vibes.

The higher you hang the flag, the further the good vibes are sent out.  I'm on the 5th floor balcony (penthouse baby!), the highest I am able to display it.  I don't know the Tibetan ratio for height:distance, but I hope it's enough to reach you if your reading this (assuming someone does, in fact, read this).  Namaste.
